Cemeteries in Vale Royal
Wharton Cemetery
The main purpose of the Cemetery is to provide a burial service and a quiet area for people to remember their loved ones in peaceful surroundings. It is also a workplace.
Accordingly, we ask all users of the cemetery to respect the needs of others and to follow the guidelines set out on the notice boards situated at the car park entrance on Crook Lane and Newall Crescent entrances.

Headstone / Memorial Safety Inspections
Vale Royal Borough Council is advising that an inspection programme will be carried out in accordance with its Management of Memorials policy, commencing 1 December 2006 at the following cemeteries:
- St Lawrence Churchyard, Church Road, Frodsham
- St Johns Churchyard, Chester Road, Hartford, Northwich
Any headstones / memorials found to be unsafe and an immediate danger to the public will be made safe by laying flat. Members of the public are being advised to keep to the paths and exercise caution around testing areas.
