From 1 April 2009, Cheshire West and Chester Council is the new Council replacing Chester City Council, Ellesmere Port & Neston Borough Council, Vale Royal Borough Council and the western part of Cheshire County Council. Health and Safety - Workplace

Background
The Council's Commercial Section is responsible for enforcing Health and Safety legislation in over 3,000 work premises within the Borough. These premises include: offices, shops, warehouses and leisure activity centres. The Health and Safety Executive are responsible for enforcing Health and Safety legislation in factories, transport, agriculture and other large industries.

The aim of the section is:

To ensure that all relevant premises within the local authority are inspected in accordance with an agreed risk rating in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of persons at work and persons who may be affected by that work.
