Private Sector Housing Renewal Policy

The Policy
This policy sets out Vale Royal Borough Council’s grants policies and seeks to reflect the initiatives encompassed in the Council’s Housing Strategy 2004 - 2007.

It recognises the principle that, in the main, owners should be responsible for the upkeep and repair of their own properties, however, it also accepts that there are some groups where assistance will be necessary.

The main priorities within the policy are to target assistance in order to reduce the number of unfit dwellings within the Borough, to work towards achieving the Decent Homes Standard, to achieve energy efficiency targets, and to allow vulnerable, elderly or disadvantaged occupiers to remain in their own homes.
