2008-2009 Council Tax
Vale Royal Borough Council set its Council Tax rate for the financial year beginning April 2008 at its Council meeting on 28 February 2008.

Occupants of Band D properties in Vale Royal face an average increase of 4.6% in their Council Tax.

This increase means that the Band D Council Tax in Vale Royal will be £1,386.85.
Last year the Council Tax, including the Cheshire County Council's precept, Cheshire Police Authority and the Cheshire Fire Authority levy for a Band D property was £1,325.93

What is the Council Tax?

Prevention and Detection of Fraud
The Council is required under section 6 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 to participate in the National Fraud Initiative (NFI) data matching exercise.

Council Tax data will be provided to the Audit Commission for NFI and will be used for cross-system comparison for the prevention and detection of fraud.

In 2008 cross-checks will be made between council tax records and the Council's Register of Electors in order to verify awards of council tax discounts. The Council will pass your council tax information and information from the Council's Register of Electors to the Audit Commission but the data released will only be that regarded as essential to the successful completion of the data matching exercise.
