Accessible Premises
Are your premises accessible?
From October 2004, companies and organisations that provide services to the public are required under the Disability Discrimination Act to ensure that those services are reasonably accessible to disabled people.
Vale Royal Borough Council intends to help local businesses find ways of providing better access to goods and services for disabled customers. We have compiled this "Access Information Pack". This information is free of charge and includes:
- A Practical Guide for Businesses and Other Small Service Providers on making access to goods and services easier, prepared by the Disability Rights Commission
- A comprehensive access checklist to ensure that your premises comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995
- A list of access auditors and consultants who can visit your premises and advise on any action that you might take to improve access
- This initiative has been developed in partnership with a number of agencies including Cheshire Disability Federation and Macclesfield and District Disability Information Bureau
The Access Information Pack can be obtained by contacting our Equality and Diversity Officer on 01606 867545 or by email: adoe@valeroyal.gov.uk
The comprehensive access checklist can also be downloaded from the Macclesfield and District Disability Information Bureau website.
