Allotments in Vale Royal

Allotments are recognised as an important part of sustainable development with many environmental, social and economic benefits. Allotments provide access to fresh, nutritious and safely grown food, they can help build communities and encourage social interaction amongst gardeners, they encourage biodiversity, promote a healthier and more active lifestyle and can bring economic benefits to allotment growers in the form of community composting centres and places for trading and recreation. In Britain there are some 25,000 acres of allotments producing an estimated 200,000 tonnes of fresh food a year and more people are now growing their own food on allotments, often working together, exchanging produce and developing composting schemes.

The Borough Council owns and manages allotment plots on Austin Street, off Manchester Road, Northwich (for more information contact 01606 867657 or email glucock@valeroyal.gov.uk - there are currently no plots available at Austin Street). The local Town and Parish Councils in the main, manage all other allotments.
